ARRL

Welcome to the home page of the Australian Rickettsial Reference Laboratory (ARRL). Have a look at the activities of our laboratory with regards to research projects, diagnostic services and products.

Our Mission

The vision of the ARRL is to provide the medical and microbiological community with fast and reliable diagnostic test results. Funds raised from diagnostic testing are expended on rickettsial research into Australian rickettsial diseases.

Laboratory Profile

The Australian Rickettsial Reference Laboratory (ARRL) was formed in 1996 and operates within the Douglas Hocking Research Institute that is an operating arm of the Geelong Hospital in the Barwon Health care system. We are located in Geelong, Victoria, Australia.

The ARRL is a NATA accredited laboratory providing services for the serological, culture and PCR diagnosis of rickettsial disease. All diagnostic assays were developed in house from published data.

The ARRL also acts as a repository for rickettsial strains.
